Everything in Common
The whole group of believers was one in heart and soul. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they held everything in common. (Acts 4:32)
The church has always been seen as a place where those who are less fortunate could go for help. That practice started with the early Christian Church. Luke tells us that the early Christians held everything in common. they shared with one another. As they received the love of Jesus from being connected to him, they wanted to share that love with others.
While we may not share everything we have with our brothers and sisters, we still want to reflect the love of Jesus that comes to being connected to him as a branch to the Vine. One of the ways that we do that is still through the support that we show to those in need. Through our offerings and other means, we support those in need and share with them the good news of forgiveness that connects us to Christ. This is just one way that we bear fruits of our faith, as branches connected to the Vine, Jesus. Amen.
