Covered in Blood
Come now, and let us reason together, says the Lord. Though your sins are like scarlet, they will be as white as snow. Though they are as red as crimson, they will be like wool. (Isaiah 1:18)
As Isaiah began his ministry to the people of Judah and Jerusalem, the people were doing what God asked of them. They were making the sacrifices that God had given to Moses to atone for sin and to thank him for the blessings that he gave to his people, but they were worshipping other gods and had forsaken God in their hearts. God called them out for their hypocrisy.
But God also offered them his forgiveness. Though their sins stained them and covered them with blood, God says he will make them white as snow, pure and clean. He would give this to them free of charge if they would be faithful to him.
Our sins have covered us in blood as well. We were stained red by our sins. But through blood, we have been made white as snow. Because of our sin, Jesus’ blood was shed so that we might become white as wool. We have been washed and purified and God has decided that we are pure in his sight. Through faith, we are covered in the only blood that can make us white, Jesus’ blood. Let us continue to worship and praise our God for making us clean. Amen.
