God Does What Pleases Him

In fact, our God is in the heavens. He does everything that pleases him. (Psalm 115:3)

Evil is a real problem in our world. It seems like it can be all around us. And some people point to that evil as the proof that God doesn’t exist, or if he does, then he isn’t all-powerful or doesn’t care. But all of that couldn’t be further from the truth.

The psalmist tells us that God is in heaven. He sits on his throne and rules over everything. He is in control of all things. And he does what pleases him. What pleases God more than that his Word is spread? God loves when his Word is spread and people come to him and trust in him. And so, Paul tells us that God works for the good of those who love him. He directs all things for our eternal and spiritual good.

The world may seem to be filled with evil, and it is because of sin. But that should not worry us. God still is in heaven. He is still in control of all things. And he does the things that please him. His people spreading his Word is what pleases him. His people praising and glorifying him is what pleases him. And so he looks over his people and takes care of them. He takes care of you. That’s what pleases him. Amen.
