This Ministry Is Ours!

And all these things are from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation. That is, God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them. And he has entrusted to us the message of reconciliation. (2 Corinthians 5:18–19)

Compelled by the love of Christ, Paul says that we put off our old flesh (our sinful nature) and put on the new self. And being controlled by the new self, we do not only consider someone according to their flesh. We do not only consider their appearance or their behavior, things that we can see with our eyes. We also consider them according to who they are in Christ Jesus, people whom Christ died for.

And all this we do because God first revealed this message to us. Through Jesus, he reconciled us to himself. He made peace with us again. He bought us back and made us his children. He restored our relationship with him. He took away our sins and trespasses. And now he has given us the task of taking that great message to those who are still in the darkness, who are still enemies of God. He wants us to spread the good news to all people. Amen.
