Thursday September 24, 2020 - Agree in Prayer
Amen I tell you again: If two of you on earth agree to ask for anything, it will be done for them by my Father who is in heaven. In fact where two or three have gathered together in my name, there I am among them.” (Matthew 18:19–20)
Have you ever wondered why we have so many prayers in church? Today we see the principle behind our prayers in church. When we pray during worship, we are asking God for what we agree on. We take his promises and we hold them before him. We make requests from God that we agree on.
But God doesn’t just listen to the prayers that we pray in church. He also tells us that he hear our personal prayers. And he hears when we pray for, and with, each other. When we agree in our prayers, Jesus promises that God hears us.
Jesus tells us that this is because whenever we gather in Jesus name with another believer, he is there with us. We are, in essence, a gathering of the church. And he promises to be with his church. He is there with us when we gather together in his name. What an awesome promise that is.
Continue to pray and ask God for what you need. Let others know about our needs, so that they too may pray with you in Jesus name. Gather with your fellow believers and pray together. Amen.
Our song for today is “You’re With Us” by Nathan + Rachel
