Wednesday October 28, 2020 - Not Ashamed of The Gospel

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes—to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed by faith, for faith, just as it is written, “The righteous will live by faith.” (Romans 1:16–17)

Paul wanted to go to Rome and preach to the people there but every time he tried, he was stopped from going there. But nothing could stop Paul from wanting to spread the gospel to the people of Rome. Paul wanted to make it abundantly clear to the Romans that he was not avoiding them because he was ashamed of the gospel because of its power.

We don’t have to be ashamed of the gospel either. In fact, we rejoice in the gospel. The gospel reveals to us our righteousness. It tells us of our savior who clothed us in righteousness. And it is universal. It is for all people. The gospel is something that we share with others. We want to tell others of the power of God that brings us salvation.

Let’s not be ashamed of the gospel but share it boldly. Amen.

Our song for today is “Not Ashamed” by Jeremy Camp
