He Watches Over You

You keep track of when I travel and when I stay, and you are familiar with all my ways. (Psalm 139:3)

Normally, it would be extremely difficult to find an airline ticket for a reasonable price, gas prices would skyrocket, and transportation, in general, would be more expensive this time of year. With many people trying to go somewhere for Christmas, the demand for transportation related items increases and that usually drives the price up.

But this year that isn’t happening. More people are staying home and having a quiet Christmas. Many states have even restricted travel in and out of the state. And many families have decided that it will be better, in the long run, to stay home now and not put anyone at risk. And Christmas will be different this year.

But there is one thing that won’t change. David tells us that God knows and watches over us no matter what we do. He keeps track of us when we travel, and he keeps track of us when we stay home. God knows what we do and he protects us while we do it. No matter how you’ve decided to celebrate our savior’s birth this year, God knows and watches over you because you are his. He has made you his child through baptism and has redeemed you through the same Jesus, whose birth we celebrate at Christmas. Amen.
