A Refuge From The Ungodly
My salvation and my honor depend on God, my strong rock. My refuge is in God. Trust in him at all times, you people. Pour out your hearts before him. God is a refuge for us. Interlude (Psalm 62:7–8)
As David noticed the things that the ungodly were doing around him, he reminds himself to take refuge in God. That is where his salvation comes from. And he reminds his people to do the same thing. When they see the ungodly doing evil things, they can pour out their hearts to God. They can tell him their cares and concerns, and take refuge in God.
When we look around us, there seem to be ungodly things going on in every direction. And we too need to remind ourselves to take refuge in God. He is the one who brings us salvation and gives us honor. He listens to us when we pour out our hearts to him. And we are not the only ones who need to hear that. As David did in this psalm, we need to remind and inform others that they can only find refuge in God. He is the one who shelters us from the ungodly. He gives us salvation and honor through his Son, Jesus. He is the one in whom we can trust. Amen.
Our song for today is “Psalm 62” By Aaron Keyes.
